The 200 Companies That Sponsor H-1B and E-3 Visas You May Never Have Heard About

Friday, December 17th, 2010

Whenever a potential candidate for either an E3 or H1B visa goes job searching for the first time a large part of the process is guess work as they decide what type of company may want to hire and thus sponsor them.

It is a crazy system as from far away in a foreign country, possibly having never visited the US before, an applicant has to work out which companies may be more likely to take a chance on a foreigner who they potentially may never meet prior to hiring.

As we strongly advocate it is important while maybe applying for positions from abroad, taking a chance and making the effort to come to the US for interviews to enhance you chances. Your resume and background would have to be pretty compelling for a company to hire you unseen and without a referral from someone they already trust completely.

Referrals are great and work well in the US so if you have contacts here, ask them to pass you resume directly to people they know as that if nothing else will put your application and resume in the active pile. So many application and resumes are just discarded because one minor thing may be wrong or missing and thus to lower their load HR people just discard it. However being referred avoids that from generally happening.

So what we wanted to to help you out is give you a list of 200 companies that have a history of sponsoring H-1B visas thus making them great for E-3 visa as well. These companies have sponsored around 20 visas annually in the past years so are less noticable than the companies that sponsor hundreds and thousands of H-1B visas. However because they are less noticeable, you will have a lot less competition when applying.

Here is the list of 200 companies that could sponsor your H-1B visa or E-3 visa you may never have heard of (including the amount of visa they sponsored annually in past year);

Why Are Teachers the Scapegoats of the Right and Left? (The Real Educational Changes Needed)

Friday, December 17th, 2010

As a teacher who has taught in both a public school in the U.S. and a private school abroad, there is no question that education in the United States has many problems; however, many seem to want to put that blame almost solely on the teachers’ backs. This is nothing new from the right; turn on Bill O’Reilly or other right wing sources and before you long you will probably be hearing horror stories about teachers. What is disturbing to me is that the left has seemed to jump on to this bandwagon as well. A new documentary has recently come out from the director of an Inconvenient Truth called “Waiting for Superman”, where supposedly much of the blame is put on the teacher’s (especially the unions).

Are there are bad teachers? Sure. However, the “bad” teachers usually get out of teaching quickly, because they soon find it is not an easy job for those who do not have a passion for it. Could there be some improvements in accountability and in the union regulations? Definitely. But let’s not forget that teachers unions are usually present in the states with the best educational records (just compare the unionized state of Massachusetts or Illinois with non-union states like South Carolina or Mississippi). However, to put so much of the blame on teacher’s backs is not only unfair it is dangerous, because it is simply letting other real issues left un-discussed. There are four issues that could greatly improve education which many seem to overlook in favor of finding a scapegoat in teachers. They are:

1. Smaller Class Sizes- It blows me away that in the midst of the recession, many school districts are choosing to fire teachers and make class sizes even bigger. This is such a huge problem. The difference in learning with having 17 students in your class compared to 40 cannot even be comprehended by those who have not taught. Many teachers would prefer to get a paycut before having to teach 40 students in a classroom, or many qualified teachers may just choose to quit. Of course, with smaller class sizes comes a need for more financial assistance, which many politicians seem reluctant to give to education (while finding no problem enriching the wealthy few).

2. More Discipline in School- I soon found out as a teacher that discipline in most of America’s public schools is a joke. Kids cannot get in trouble for anything anymore. They get a detention, a suspension from school, and then nothing. It is like a vacation for many of them. There are no real consequences for actions, the teachers hands are tied, and therefore, nothing seems to get done.

3. Let Kids Drop Out of School- When I was teaching in South Carolina, I had 16 year old kids that were counting down the days until they turned 17 and could drop out of school. Meanwhile, we had to deal with them in class, and they were taking up precious school money and resources. What is the point of having these kids in school? They are going to drop out anyways. They are simply staying in school so they will not be arrested for delinquency. Obviously there has to be a minimum age, but it should not be 17 or 18. It makes us feel good so that we can say that we have “universal education”, but the reality is that it does nothing but hurt the other students and teachers in the school.

4. More Respect From Parents- It amazes me how little respect some parents give teachers. I do think this is bigger problem in the United States (as I have not run into the same issue with Costa Rican parents). In fact, any run-ins I have had with parents in Costa Rica have been from American parents. There is a general disrespect and disregard for teachers, and it gets passed on to the students. Some of the stories I could tell of parents and the way they responded to teachers would be comical if it wasn’t so repugnant. Parents HAVE to stop defending their children against the teachers. Nothing is more handicapping and damning to the education and overall life success of a student.

5. A Change in Culture- The U.S. education system is ultimately suffering because of the U.S. culture. We have such a narcissistic, greedy culture, and these attitudes are destroying the classroom. There is a general disrespect and lack of chivalry which we can see in our politicians, co-workers, entertainment figures, etc. In many ways U.S. education is failing because of the self-centered, egocentric culture that often defines the U.S. This is obviously a problem which much more difficult to resolve.

In conclusion, the education system has many issues it needs to change. There are some changes that could be made in regard to teachers; however, I firmly believe that is not one of the biggest issues. We need to focus on the real issues and get opinions from the actual educators as opposed to politicians who have little knowledge of the classroom. We need start making real serious changes for the health of the future generation.
